Claims Specialist

About the role

Our Insurance Business Unit is responsible for overseeing the implementation and operation of workers’ compensation legislation within Victoria. We have accountability for early and sustainable return to safe work for injured workers, valued quality service to injured workers and employers, and financial sustainability of the scheme.

We are wanting to utilise your technical expertise to provide our Agents advice on entitlements, Return to Work and enhance quality decision making.

Your role will be primarily responsible for working collaboratively with Agents in address barriers to recovery, prevent further injury, and support effective rehabilitation and early return to work.

  • You will provide support to Agents in managing claims approaching the second entitlement review (130 weeks).
  • Leadership in the technical application of the Act and interpretation to Agents
  • You will make recommendation to process improvement opportunities you identify.
  • Are you a curious person who challenges the norm for better outcomes?
  • Provide strong expertise to broader activities i.e. cross-team and cross-divisional activities

About you

You are an experienced Claims Specialist who wants to make a difference. Your communication and organisational skills are strong with the proven ability to build rapport and cooperative working relationships across all Stakeholders. You are a leader who enjoys making an impact on your team and stakeholders. Can you meet the following skills we need:

  • Expert knowledge of the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013
  • Expertise with the use of ACCtion/NOVUS and Windows based applications
  • Technical expertise of the processes surrounding legislative statutory entitlements (excluding impairment benefits)
  • Strong experience with reviewing claim forms, medical, occupational rehabilitation and investigation reports
