Executive Officer, External Affairs

About the role

The Executive Officer is a key position in WorkSafe, responsible to the Executive Director, External Affairs for a wide range of leadership and coordination services.

This is a senior officer role that provides high level strategic and authoritative advice and administrative support to the Executive Director, External Affairs around governance and the running of the overall business unit.

  • You will be providing high level advice and support to the Executive Director and to the External Affairs Senior Leadership team
  • You will also manage the day to day operation of the Office of the Executive Director External Affairs, encompassing a range of matters including but not limited to management and oversight of the Executive Director's internal and external communications
  • You will be liaising with the Chief Executive's office, Legal Services, Health & Safety and other business units across WorkSafe for media and other high profile issues and briefing the Executive Director as appropriate
  • You will ensure that the Executive Director External Affairs is appropriately briefed and prepared for internal and external meetings and advising the Executive Director on emerging or topical issues
  • You will be accountable for creating and capturing accurate and complete records of the business activities related to this position, in accordance with approved policy and procedures
  • Finally, you will be providing secretariat support to WorkSafe's Executive Leadership Team.

  • You will possess well developed technical expertise and a knowledge of WorkSafe, External Affairs and its operating framework
  • You also have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise and consult with employees and management at all levels of the organisation, and diverse stakeholders
  • You have excellent ability to manage complex projects, coordinate activities, prioritise issues and meet deadlines
  • Finally, you have proven experience in providing strategic, authoritative advice in a complex operating environment
