Senior Innovation Specialist
 
  • $120,109 per annum + superannuation
  • Full time, ongoing opportunity
  • Geelong based role

About the role

The Senior Innovation Specialist will be responsible for delivering end-to-end Innovation initiatives. Working collaboratively across the broader Innovation Centre team, the successful candidate will have a willingness to “jump in” and deliver team outcomes.

The Senior Innovation Specialist will assist in providing mentoring, coaching and support to the Innovation Specialists and supporting the Innovation Lead in the day to day direction, guidance and support of multidisciplinary teams.

Reporting to the Innovation Lead, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Embrace a human-centred approach to develop solutions improving WorkSafe client experience
  • Mentor/coach and provide support to the Innovation Specialist/s, and provide direction and support to the multidisciplinary Design Crew to assist them through the innovation process
  • With the support of the Innovation Lead, take an operational lead in the delivery of innovation initiatives leveraging the Innovation Centre processes and tools
  • Perform primary research, including focused interviews with SMEs and empathy interviews with WorkSafe’s Clients, and secondary research to explore potential opportunities (e.g. Desktop Research)
  • Assist in the preparation and facilitation of co-design and prototyping workshops involving clients
  • Organise and lead ideation sessions to identify and assess potential solutions
  • Leverage rapid prototyping tools and techniques to test and iterate solutions
  • Organise, launch and monitor pilots to test Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) with clients and assess early benefits

About you

You are an innovation professional who has significant experience in managing and delivering end to end innovation projects. You’re a proven leader, who has the ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across all levels of the organisation. You are passionate about driving change and influencing stakeholders in a complex and political environment.

Requirements of the position

  • Significant experience managing and delivering innovation projects with a high level of ambiguity
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, mentoring, and upskilling people in innovative or agile methods and an ability to encourage and support new ways of working
  • You will require a highly resilient outlook to be able to work in a fast paced environment solving a diverse range of problems in your day to day work
  • Demonstrated experience applying Human Centred Design/Design thinking
  • Ability to think creatively, and develop new and innovative ways of approaching problems/opportunities and engaging with various audiences
  • Proven ability to work with clients and to leverage human-centred methods such as empathy to understand their needs and wants
  • Proven ability to experiment by leveraging prototyping tools and techniques to iterate solutions
  • Experience in delivering and marketing products in complex organisations (highly desired)
  • Experience in design strategy / service design (highly desired)
