About the role

The Director, Learning & Organisational Development (L&OD) leads the design, development and implementation of learning and organisational development strategies and solutions to drive organisational performance.

L&OD strategies build our employees’ capabilities, enhance our organisational culture and put our values at the core of everything we do. L&OD activities underpin our employees’ experience and ensure that WorkSafe is able to attract, retain and develop talented people to deliver our services to the Victorian community.

The Director, L&OD, is responsible for leading the team of People & Culture professionals that deliver these services to our internal customers and our contracted partners, across a range of disciplines including organisational development, culture, leadership, workforce shaping, diversity, equity and inclusion, and learning and capability.

  • You will lead a multi-disciplinary team of specialists who provide high quality leadership, guidance, advice, counsel and support across the following functions:
    • Organisational Development, including Culture & Leadership
    • Learning & Capability
    • Workforce Shaping
  • Effectively partner with WorkSafe’s leadership team to identify and implement relevant L&OD solutions that support the delivery of WorkSafe’s Strategy.
  • Lead the design and implementation of a fit for purpose L&OD approach including models, frameworks, initiatives and vision that are underpinned by WorkSafe’s mission, vision, values and culture.
  • Ensure the delivery of fit for purpose learning solutions to support current and emerging capability needs, for the WorkSafe workforce and our external partners as relevant, including our insurance Agent partners.
  • Establish and manage enterprise learning governance frameworks which enable a consistent and structured approach towards the identification and delivery of whole-of-WorkSafe training initiatives, and ensure the mitigation of organisational risks associated with management of compliance training requirements.

About you

With relevant tertiary qualifications and significant experience in the field of learning and organisational development, you are a proven leader with expert knowledge in best practice policies and practices. 

You have a strong ability to build positive relationships and influence at an executive/strategic level, and experience in working in an organisation going through change and transformation and delivering outcomes which have resulted in organisational capability uplift. 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with a strong reputation of being a professional leader, consistently displaying integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
  • High level writing skills and ability to prepare, reports, recommendations and strategy documents for executives and senior leaders.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and facilitation skills to influence decision makers and gain their support in the implementation of organisational development initiatives.
  • Experience in the provision of accurate, confidential and sensitive advice and support to senior management, and in negotiation with employees and management on organisational issues. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field such as Human Resources, Organisational Development, Commerce or Psychology
