Industry Liaison Officer
 
  • $136,491 per annum + Superannuation
  • Full Time, Ongoing
  • Flexible location Melbourne CBD or Regional Victoria

About the role

The Industry Liaison Officers play a key role in fostering external stakeholder relationships across all industry groups. The role has responsibility for proactive engagement with external stakeholders such as peak unions and employer representatives, to assist in 'early intervention' establish effective collaborative workplace consultation processes to thereby assist in dispute avoidance and resolution which may arise.

  • You will be working with stakeholder groups, promoting consultative processes within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (OHS Act)
  • You will provide strategic advice to senior operations enabling WorkSafe to proactively identify emergent issues and concerns, deliver services and advice to Victorian workers and employers in relation to reduction of risk to employees as well as the protection of the public
  • You will provide high quality support, and actively contribute to building the capability and skills of all stakeholders in risk management to enable them to negotiate and participate in consultative mechanisms at their workplaces
  • Finally, you will represent WorkSafe at a variety of public forums and manage stakeholder relationships according to operational policy and procedure.

About you

You are an experienced professional who wants to make a difference to the safety of Victorian workers by using your relationship building skills as well as health and safety knowledge. Your communication and organisational skills are exemplary - You have a passion for problem solving. You are a team oriented person who enjoys stakeholder management.

  • You have demonstrated experience facilitating positive outcomes through stakeholder interactions and consultative mechanisms
  • You also have a proven ability to facilitate effective communication both verbal and written.
  • You are skilled at building stakeholder relationships across different industries
  • You also have an established understanding of the processes and approaches required for successful and sustained stakeholder engagement
  • You have experience in the establishment and maintenance of relationships with key stakeholders, such as peak unions, employer representative bodies and relevant government agencies
  • Finally, you have ability to consult effectively and remain impartial when enquiring into complex and sensitive issues and ascertaining their underlying factors
