Impairment Benefits Officer
  • $111,421 per annum + Superannuation
  • Full time, Fixed term till December 2023
  • Geelong

About the role

Working within the Claims Division, the Impairment Benefits position’s main purpose is to work with the Claims and Recovery Support Team in managing the team’s impairment benefit claims. This is to ensure that the team’s impairment benefit claims are properly assessed in accordance with the AMA Guides and relevant legislation to ensure timely receipt of entitlement by workers.

Some key accountabilities include: 

  • Management of impairment benefit (IB) claims for the Claims and Recovery Support Teams in accordance with the annual performance adjustment measures for IB claim management
  • Work closely with both the Impairment Benefits and Claims and Recovery Teams to ensure proactive and effective management of impairment benefit claims, identifying and addressing any performance improvement areas
  • Provides specialist support and advice on IB claims resolution of complex issues including matter relating to conciliation, complaints and other disputes
  • Accountable for IB claim audits, reviews and/or health checks
  • Collate and analyse complex IB data, interpreting to understand trends, risks, opportunities and possible solutions and report on findings to senior leadership and governance forums

About you

  • Technical understanding and current operational claims management experience
  • Good working knowledge of the AMA4 guides and relevant IB legislation in the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013
  • Knowledge of claims management processes particularly an understanding of the Victorian system for managing, compensating work injuries, including the ACCtion and NOVUS systems
  • A high level of communication skills (written and oral), including facilitation of groups, and the ability to give advice and information.
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills and to work to deadlines.
